HEY GIRLFRIEND, WE’VE GOT YOU!

Instructions for THE perfect GLOW

CARE GUIDE

Tan Prep

Please review the following prep instructions for your airbrush tan . (They're easy, we promise!)

before your appointment

  1. The number one, cardinal rule: Exfoliate!!! Please exfoliate 24 hours prior to your appointment. We recommend using a non-oil based body scrub and an exfoliating mitt or dry brush. Time allowing, we recommend exfoliating 2-3 times the week prior to your session. Exfoliating is the key to an even, long-lasting tan!

  2. Shower & shave prior to your appointment. It is best to shave and shower at least one day prior to your spray tan application. We understand sometimes that isn’t feasible SO, if you spray tan within 6 hours after showering & shaving, your pores may be open which could cause you to have "dots" where the solution has been absorbed by your pores. To avoid this, please make sure to finish your shower with cold(er) water or splash cold water on the area shaved to close your pores as much as possible. I repeat: It is best to shave and shower at least one day prior. The moisturizing strip on your razor WILL be a barrier between your skin and the tan!

  3. If you're due for a pedicure, be sure to get it done at least one day prior to your spray tan! Soaking and exfoliating will remove your tan on your legs and feet. Also, if you get it done the same day, the lotion applied to your legs will be a barrier between your skin and your faux glow (not good!)

  4. A bit more about planning your beauty services: If you’re planning a facial, we recommended getting your facials at least one week prior to your spray tan. For our lash lovers, we recommend getting lashes at least one day prior to your tanning appointment.

  5. Hydrate, sister! Begin increasing your water intake one week prior to your tan.

  6. NO DOVE SOAP prior to tan please!

  7. Avoid using acne products prior to spray tan!

Care guide

Day of tan

Come to your appointment without:

  • LOTION!

  • DEODORANT!

  • MAKEUP!

  • PERFUME!

All of these products will create a barrier and prevent the tan from adhering to your skin. Polished nails will NOT be ruined by your tan. Please notify your spray tan artist if you use acne products (topical or medication)! If you have very dry skin, please moisturize with an oil-free moisturizer the night before your tan.

what to wear:

  • Prepare to tan however you feel most comfortable! Many clients tan in a thong and topless, in a bathing suit or nude! We carry complimentary disposable tops and bottoms as well! Any clothing you choose to wear during the session (undergarments/bathing suit) will not be ruined and can simply be laundered once in a normal cycle to remove the solution.

  • We ask that all males wear something to cover their private parts!

  • After the application, all clients should leave their Bronze Bar appointment wearing loose clothing, black is best, and flip-flop type footwear (unless it’s raining) so be sure to bring these with you or wear them to your appointment.

  • Cover up, babes. Any water that comes in contact with your skin while your tan is setting will remove the tan!

  • Although the tan solution washes out, you may want to prepare to sleep in dark color sheets.

  • Be aware that wool, lycra, nylon, spandex, silk, rayon, and leather may stain.

Special Notes:

  • Those lulu aligns are not the right bottoms to wear! Yoga pants are too tight!

  • NO shorts! You might stick to your seat and/or bronzer will get on the cloth seat of your vehicle. If you must wear shorts, be sure to bring a towel to sit on in the car.

  • Long loose pants are best as well as long sleeve loose shirts! We want to avoid skin on skin touching until you rinse!

Care guide

Post tan

You’ve received your gorgeous glow, now what!?

  • If you receive The Standard you will not be able to get wet, shower or perspire for at least 10 hours (until you shower) – so please plan your day accordingly!

  • If you receive The Luxe, you will need to wait the recommended time prior to your rinse. Once you rinse in warm water (no soap) you are good to, girlfriend!

  • It’s crucial you do not touch your skin after your tan. You risk staining your fingertips.

  • Avoid exfoliation throughout the life of your tan! Your spray tan is attached to the top layer of skin, therefore exfoliation will remove your tan. Exfoliation can occur naturally or intentionally. A few tips to prevent you from unintentionally removing your tan:

    • Avoid hot, long showers

    • Avoid soaking in a bathtub or hot tub

    • Limit chlorine and/or salt water exposure

    • Do not use loofah, washcloth or dry brush

    • Do not use any exfoliating products (until you’re ready to remove your tan).

    • Pat dry with your towel instead of rubbing

    • LIMIT shaving and do not shave within the first 24-48 hours post tan

    • Shower gel or bar soap applied by hand is the best option for cleansing and a gentle facial cleanser is recommended.

    • Avoid lotions or soap that contain alcohol, mineral oil, sulfates, parabens, and fragrance. It’s HIGHLY recommended to use all-natural products OR products made specifically for spray tans. We’re happy to share our favorites and also provide options for purchase within the studio!

Always remember:

  • SPF! Your tan will NOT protect you from the sun’s damaging rays. ALWAYS wear sunscreen with at least 30 SPF. (We recommend SunBum).

  • Hydrate and moisturize to extend the life of your tan! Avoid products with harsh chemicals.

  • Spray tans are NOT meant to be layered. Before your next session, be sure to remove all previous tan from your skin
